4Chan Creator “Moot” TED Lecture (Video) | Origin of Rickrolling, Anonymous, & Memes

Until I saw this lecture, I was under the impression that “Moot” was merely an internet troll with too much time on his hands, absolutely no morals, and a millionaire.

However, I was wrong on all assumptions. His lecture on the creation of 4Chan and it’s influence on the internet is quite inspiring.

Sure, there are a lot of time-wasting sections of 4Chan, but the concept is pretty solid. It’s an imageboard with freedom of speech at the forefront.

The TED moderator at the end of the lecture has somewhat of a negative outlook on the site, but I disagree. When you have enough people behind you to make it to the TIME 100, I’m sure you’ve done something right.
