This is the music video for 8-Bit World, a song by Your Favorite Martian with a little help from Hoodie Allen. No, I’ve heard of neither of them before either.
Even if you’re too young to remember the era of 8-bit games, or were just never into gaming back in the day, the song works on a basic level anyway.
In particular the chorus is genius, being so catchy I know I’ll now have it stuck in my head for the rest of the day. And the verses are clever too, especially if you know the references being made liberally throughout.
And then there is the video, which features all the characters and games sung about in the song. These include Final Fantasy, Super Mario, Tetris, Paperboy, Kid Icarus, and Zelda. Love it.
