It’s a new year, the time to reminisce about what has gone before and delight in all the possibilities to come. And there are few creatures as rich with possibilities as babies. This video celebrates this by capturing the miracle of birth.

I probably could have shown you a human birth, but that’s a messy business. Watching a baby bird hatch from an egg in front of your eyes is much more civilized and less traumatizing.

This tiny little critter isn’t very attractive, and probably won’t be until his feathers come in, but there’s definitely a charm about this helpless little guy ripe with potential!
