We all know of the amazing camouflage of the chameleon, the cuttlefish, and other creatures from the animal kingdom. Now meet a bird who does it better than most: the potoo.

Don’t worry if you can’t see him at first: that’s the point. This Brazilian species of nightjar looks just the bark of a tree. It’s an ingenious disguise allowing the bird to doze safely during the day.
