Hippos may kill more people than any other African animal, but that doesn’t seem to faze this South African family. They adopted an orphaned Jessica seven years ago, and insist she’s just like any other pet.

She occasionally spends time with other hippos down the river, but always returns to her comfortable human home.

This young hippopotamus is very cute, but with all that weight to throw around she was always going to struggle to settle in. After she broke a bed and a sofa, Jessica is now restricted to the backyard and kitchen.

Of course, this arrangement suits the hungry hippo just fine.
