This video shows the PAL-V flying car being driven around a test track before it’s transformed into a gyrocopter and taken on its maiden flight high above the traffic. Impressive.

As impressive as this vehicle is, and it really is a magnificent achievement in engineering and design, I wouldn’t want one.

I can’t fly planes, for starters. And even if I could I’m not sure I could trust something that weedy to get me from A to B thousands of meters up in the air. And as a car? Well, it just looks stupid, doesn’t it.

I wish PAL-V all the best in finding investors, but who is this thing going to be marketed at? How many people do you know who could afford one and who have their pilot’s license… exactly.
