Reach for the tissues and settle in for Furioko, or Pendulum as it translates to in English, a moving animated short by Japanese artist Tekken.

With simple black and white line drawings Tekken takes us on the journey through the life of one man. It’s a life of trials and tribulations, and a whole lot of anger and frustration. But there is love too, for his wife and his child.

It’s that love that anchors this clip. We empathize with the man even when he’s behaving appallingly. It’s all very real, and it manages to hold our attention for a full three minutes which is better than most things online!
