Any time you head out on a charter boat during whale season, you hope to get up close and personal with these majestic creatures. However I’m sure the man behind this iPhone video didn’t expect to get quite this close!

This amazing piece of footage, filmed off the coast of Tofino in British Columbia, is truly remarkable. We see a humpback whale breaching just a stone’s throw away from the vessel.

I got start just watching this video, so I can only imagine the adrenalin rush of being there! It’s the sort of thing you’d want to see with your own eyes rather than through your smart phone, but I’m glad this guy was recording it all the same!
