Anyone But Me: Lesbian Web Drama With Bad Acting | New Series From ‘The L Word’ Writer

One advantage to creating a web series is that no topic is off limits. A high school soap centered around young lesbian girls wouldn’t stand a chance on U.S. cable networks, so it’s only natural that Susan Miller (a writer from Showtime’s controversial show ‘The L Word’) chose to debut “Anyone But Me” on the web.

Unlike ‘The L Word,’ however, the new show lacks two key elements: nudity and decent actors.

Girls

Strike.TV describes the plot as, “A new generation searching for love and belonging in the post 9/ll age.” As cheesy as it sounds, unfortunately, the show is even cheesier. As it turns out, Susan Miller only wrote “one or two episodes” of ‘The L Word.’ Which would explain the cliché dialog and weak acting.

Teen angst? Check. Concerned motherly figure? Check. Forbidden love? Check. Twentysomethings acting 16? Check. It’s almost as if the show’s script was pulled from a rejected Lifetime Original Movie. Really, the only thing to enjoyable about the show is it’s occasional lesbian kissing scenes.

Episode 1

Here we have the very first episode of “Anyone But Me.” At times, it’s easy to see the actors saying the lines in their head while they speak. It’s a good thing these episodes don’t clock over 10 minutes.
