2014 has arrived, with countries around the world starting to welcome in the new year with massive fireworks displays.
Australia was one of the first countries to reach 2014, and this video shows the fireworks display from Sydney.
With the economic downturn and lots of countries (and people) up to their neck in debt, some would prefer to see these expansive and expensive fireworks displays cancelled.
I think this misses the point entirely. There have always been people living in poverty, but even they deserve a little respite from their woes occasionally, which is what a good fireworks display offers.
