Folks of all faiths were deeply offended when American pastor Terry Jones suggested burning the Koran to mark the anniversary of September 11. My guess is those same people won’t like Australian atheist Alex Stewart.
Stewart did in fact burn the Koran, and the Bible along with it. In fact, he used both religious texts to smoke grass (literally, as Stewart claims to have used lawn clippings), and captured them on YouTube.
Stewart says his actions intended to make a point that personal religious beliefs matter more than religious texts. That’s unlikely to appease the faithful though, who see these tomes as much more than pieces of paper.
