As we all know, the Dungeons and Dragons game is a role playing board game in which you basically adventure around gaining experience, killing enemies, and collecting valuable treasure.

Sound familiar?

Role playing games certainly didn’t originate with Dungeons and Dragons game, but it’s hilarious to look back on the original ads like these and see where things like PC RPGs, other role playing board games, and role playing card/dice games came from.

The funniest thing isn’t the nostalgia, though, it’s seeing that even from the beginning, the people playing these games inspire you to shout, “Nerds!”

(By the way, I love RPGs, but some things I just won’t do.)
