What’s the endearing image that you have of Scotland? Men in kilts, haggis, the Loch Ness monster, and a hairy Scotsman playing the bagpipes? That’d be my guess anyway.
Which makes the news on this Scottish Apartments website all the more shocking, as it seems that bagpipes could soon be banned from Edinburgh’s Royal Mile, a huge area for tourists.
Due to a combination of complaints from local residents over the noise, and EU law, it looks as though the sound of men squeezing a cow’s bladder full of air may not be in the air for much longer.
As the Bagpipe article on the scottishapartment.com site suggests, what’s next? Are they going to ban kilts in case one unlucky female American tourist catches sight of a wee willy?
