Some people’s idea of humor is completely at odds with mine, and this video is a perfect example. What these Japanese people seem to find hilarious – a cat being dressed up and photographed – strikes me as being cruel.

Maybe I’m being too sensitive or maybe it’s because I know my own cat wouldn’t put up with it. The fact is cats are independent creatures and don’t want to be continually harassed in this most blatant way.

This particular feline must have the patience of a saint, because it doesn’t once look annoyed, get angry, or lash out with its claws. Having said that, it could just be because it’s also one of the fattest cats I’ve seen. It probably just doesn’t have the energy to complain about the situation.

What’s most amazing about this video is it shows what passes for entertainment in Japan. I don’t know about you but I was bored after about a minute, whereas the Japanese clearly watch this crap regularly. Thank God for Lost, Heroes, and ER!
