Starry Night is my favourite painting ever out of every painting I have ever scene, so you can imagine my fangirl squeal when I saw this.

Want, want, want.

Erik Johansson may not be considered a true “photographer” by some because, as he states, he isn’t “at the right place at the right time.” Instead, he chooses to take a series of photos, and then edit them in a way to make viewers think twice.

I, for one, find these images highly creative works of art.

Sure, he’s a Photoshop user, and that isn’t uncommon these days. But no matter what program you use, you are always limited by your imagination- and this guy has a crazy one at that. I don’t even know how he thought of some these.

My favorite has to be the one with the road and the scarf combined to make one. Or maybe it’s the one where the guy is ironing himself…I just can’t decide!

This video shows street artist David Choe painting the walls of the first Facebook headquarters in 2005. Facebook founder founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg even has a go with the spray can himself.

Why is this video interesting? And why now? Because Choe is about to become a millionaire thanks to these murals. When Facebook IPO’s in the near-future Choe will find himself sitting on an absolute fortune.

Choe eschewed being paid in cash for this job, choosing instead to take stock options. Zuckerberg was rather generous, giving Choe 3.77 million shares in the company. At $53-per-share that’s a cool $200 million.

This makes the artwork Choe completed on the walls of the Facebook offices some of the most expensive in the world. Certainly in terms of how much was paid at the time it was commissioned.

That’s one lucky guy… and I’m in the wrong job.

When I think of finger painting I think of small children who can’t manage yet manage brushes creating colorful messes. I certainly don’t think of the kind of high art created by this dreadlocked dude.

Prepare to have your mind blown as you watch this guy smear and spread the paint around his canvas. Oh yeah, did I mention that canvas wasn’t the usual kind, but glass? Who needs conventions when you create something amazing with such unusual materials?

I’m not sure who this guy is but I wonder why he’s sitting on a sidewalk plying his wares rather than showing his works in some gallery. Talent like his deserves to be saluted!

Miguel Endera is clearly a man with too much time on his hands. He’s also an incredible artist.

In this video we see Endera creating a portrait of his beloved father from 3.2 million ink dots. That’s right people; that 3, 200, 200 million dots. I was too initially lazy to write the number out in full, yet somehow he managed to find the time to commit that many dots to paper.

The sheer scale of this effort is impressive, but so too is the resulting artwork. It left me a little choked up to see the way the image of Endera’s “Hero” appeared. If this doesn’t make you want to call your own dad and check in, nothing will!

National Novel Writing Month 2011 has well and truly begun, and some people do some amazing things in preparation for the event…

I had originally intended to find a video to help inspire all the writers out there (including myself) participating, but I came across this video and couldn’t resist putting it up.

This trailer is amazing – and the book isn’t even written yet! I can’t imagine the cost of putting something like this together. Live actors, great music…

Sure, I have a few criticisms about the pacing and such, but that doesn’t take away the awesome.

I just wish I knew enough about where I was going with mine to make a book trailer.

Those who are looking for some substance in reality shows these days, should take a look at ‘Work Of Art’ for something new and refreshing.

As a fan of the last season, I was glad that Bravo decided to bring it back this year.

Like other reality shows, this one has 14 artists facing weekly elimination. Still, all the tasks that each artist is given are pretty much subject to interpretation- which is why there never failed to be an interesting episode.

Sometimes, you really just need to step back and take in the beauty of our planet on the whole.

This stunning and beautiful view of the land and skyscapes of our planet will leave you in awe. It can be amazing how the change of time frame using video can alter how we see things.

From the growth of plants to the super-slow motion camera work that lets us watch a favourite sporting moment, the ability to speed up or slow down the view can change how we experience the world around us.

Dustin Farrell has produced an evocative work that is, of itself, a work of beauty.

Despite the psychological and societal aversions we have to doodling – especially in an environment where we are meant to learn – creativity and learning are benefited by doodling.

Who would have thought that something so simple, and something that many of us have been disciplined for in school could actually be so useful.

I am not much of a doodler by nautre. I tried to encourage myself in that way, but as a writer, I am very text and word focussed.

However, some of the great doodlers of my childhood turned out to be some of the smartest and artistically talented people of my graduation class.

Go figure.

Artscape is a thirty years old New York festival of art. Artist Joe Giordano was refused a place in Artscape so he decided to hold his ‘alternate’ exhibition along North Avenue…

Joe decided to honour Artscape by hanging twelve foot hight nude and semi-nude photos of models from buildings along the street. Great idea, if a little risqué…

Unfortunately, Joe doesn’t seem to have thought things through very well…

Apart from hanging the pictures so far above the eyeline of passersby that he has to whistle to get them to look up, Joe also hangs one over the edge… only to drop it.

Hot on the heels of London’s breast milk ice cream comes another tasty mammary treat: breast milk cheese. New York artist Miriam Simun recently began offering a tasting selection of breast milk cheeses at the East Village’s Lady Cheese Shop.

Miriam hoped to encourage people to think about eating organic, natural, and local food. And in a busy metropolis like New York City, where there isn’t a single cow, it’s much more natural to look to humans for your milk.

It’s an interesting concept, but it’d fall down if the cheese wasn’t good. But judging by the reactions of these tasters, it’s a winner!

You won’t have the views, but damn, even getting close would be amazing.

You’re lucky to distinguish whether most seven-year-olds have drawn a house or a human being, but not Keiron Williamson. This young Brit is so talented he’s being compared to Picasso.

At the time of the news story, Keiron had already made more than £50, 000 for his oil and watercolor paintings. That should be enough to pay his parents back for looking him all those years, with interest!

What’s most exciting to me about this story is that Keiron seems so normal. There’s no trace of ego here, and he doesn’t seem to realize exactly how good he is. And thank god for that, because his artworks are incredible!

Robot elephant will take on the wold and make sure that you don’t end up being caught out in biology class. Robot elephant is awesome.

I love these videos that I don’t expect to be all that impressed with and end up loving by the time it’s done. This one is definitely up for another viewing.

This is also another one of those videos where I wish I could have seen the ‘making of’ because it must have taken so much work! I wonder if someone used his actual biology notebook or if that was made just for this video.

Robot elephant will rule the world.

Being a fan of tasteful street art myself, I’m always impressed when a mural suddenly pops out of nowhere on my usual way home from work.

This man actually prides himself in cleaning up dirty walls- yet he’s still a graffiti artist in his own way.

Technically, there really isn’t much an officer can do if they catch you cleaning up a mess right? Well, that’s the attitude that this street artist has and he’s been pretty successful so far.

I was surprised to hear that he has also done commercial art; much like the guy who paints those 3d chalk drawings.

Katie Makkai sends a message to the world and to her future daughter about the ugly reality of ‘pretty’ in today’s world.

And here, this video, is a prime example of why slam poetry is the most appropriate, amazing way to express something.

Makkai does an amazing job of expressing one girl’s life trying to be ‘pretty’ while also applying it to every girl’s experience.

And now men are starting to experience it, too, sadly enough. And most of us aren’t doing a damn thing to stop it.

This video deserves to be spread, if for nothing else, in the name of self-love.

What would happen if you hung one hundred $1 bills from a tree? What would people do?

I found this video to be strangely intriguing and depressing at the same time.

What a fun experiment, but why did so many people just walk by? I’m shocked at how many people didn’t even appear to notice.

I suspect that most of the people don’t think that the money is real, but are we really afraid to stop even if it might not be real?

I wish we had more creative minds like this in the world. The people who think to make the money tree in the first place just to see what will happen.

Words become art in this beautiful live demonstration of calligraphy.

Wow. Now that is very impressive. When I was a teenager, I became very interested in calligraphy. It got to the point I was writing the names on awards certificates.

Sadly, I had neither the equipment nor the teacher to help get me to anywhere near that kind of level. That’s beautiful.

Some people commented that other people can do the same quality faster, but I’m glad he did it at the speed he did.

I like being able to watch all the individual strokes he made to create the single piece of art.

The latest bizarre women’s fashion trend is vattooing, the practice of applying temporary tattoos to the bits downstairs.

Just imagine his surprise when your man is greeted by a pretty butterfly, a sun, or the letters of his name. The colorful designs are airbrushed onto the area for five days of flirty fun.

The wearable art doesn’t come cheaply though. While a bikini wax is thrown into the bargain, Completely Bare Spa in New York still charges $115 for the service.

That’s a lot of money to spend on something that few presumably people will see! Au naturale is sounding a bit more appealing!
