This video is both funny and insightful, showing how annoying and frankly grotesque some of these daytime TV appeals for donations have become.

I agree wholeheartedly with this video. Yes, it’s an over-the-top representation of these charity begging commercials, but the point is made well. Thankfully I am not easily swayed by clear attempts to appeal to my good side.

I have never signed my life savings over to a charity just because they made an advert trying to extort the money from me. And the same goes for those who step in front of you in the street, charity muggers, or chuggers, as they’re called.

I’ll happily give a one-off donation I know I can afford, but I will not sign up to see money leaving my account every month. And these kind of efforts actually put me off the charities involved.
