On this day in 1995, Grateful Dead guitarist and vocalist Jerry Garcia passed on, leaving behind legions of Deadheads. But his music lives on in recordings and videos.

This clip features Jerry playing a Jeff Beck classic with Sammy Hagar on vocals. It seems like an unlikely pairing, but the two rock out like they’ve been playing together for years.

Garcia was known for his love of playing music with different artists. From his jam sessions with fellow musicians at Woodstock to shows such as the one at which this video was made, Jerry was just as comfortable playing with someone he had just met as he was with his Grateful Dead bandmates.
