College football player Michael Sam, who was, and hopefully still is, set to be drafted into the NFL in May, has come out as gay.
The response has been mixed, to say the least, with old dinosaurs who somehow think the NFL isn’t the place for homosexuals suggesting he should have kept it quiet.
Thankfully, these ignorant idiots appear to be in the minority. As well as support from players and pundits, Sam was defended by Dale Hansen, who might have surprised a few people with his liberal attitude.
Hansen is right though. The time for a change in attitudes has arrived. And I guess we’ll see how far the NFL has come when it comes to drafting Sam into the league.
