Cool Balloon Science Video | Ruby Laser Pops a Balloon Inside a Balloon

23 sec read

Science didn’t really float my boat at school, but as I’ve grown I’ve discovered some of the cool things it helps us do. For example, as this video shows it helps us pop a balloon inside another.

The wavelength of the ruby laser is transmitted through the big red balloon, only to be absorbed by the darker blue balloon inside.

But who am I kidding? No one really cares for that long geeky scientific explanation. What matters most is that the blue balloon is a mere shred of plastic, while the red balloon is still intact.

And that is a true scientific marvel, even if you don’t understand it.
