My great grandfather John Thomas Smith and his wife, my great grandmother, Mahalla (Vokey) Smith lived their during the 1800's and raised a large family in a huge old house that once faced the bay leading out to the ocean. There are 3 islands named Tom, Dick and Harry. The family cemetery is located along the shoreline where beautiful, white, wild roses grow along the fence in the summertime. My grandmother was Diana Smith before marrying my grandfather von Gunten, a first generation Swiss American, and settled in Baltimore County, Maryland.
