The MTV Movie Awards always throw up a surprise or two, with spoof videos or funny performances punctuating the business of giving out awards. This year was no exception, with Eminem being teabagged live on TV by Bruno.
Bruno is one of Sacha Baron Cohen’s comic creations, and has his own movie coming out later this year. Like Borat, Bruno focuses on a character interacting with real people in real situations.
The question here is whether this was real or staged? Bruno clearly knew what he was doing, so it’s not like the stunt went wrong, dropping him in Eminem’s lap. But did Eminem know it was going to happen? Had he rehearsed it all, including the walkout at the end.
I believe he knew exactly what was going on. Otherwise, why would he have sat there for so long as Bruno dropped onto him? His entourage were a little rough with Bruno though, so maybe they weren’t in on it.
Whatever the truth, staged or real, it was funny as hell.
