Here Dan Savage gives the kind of sex education lecture I wished I’d had at school.

There’s none of the fear mongering or scare tactics so frequently employed. You won’t hear any clinical descriptions or medical words for body parts either. Instead there’s brutal, enlightening honesty.

Many accuse Dan Savage of advocating teen sex, but I’m not so sure. I think he just gives teens the credit that they can make up their own minds. What a unique concept, trusting teenagers to know what they want.

I also love that he presents other options to teenagers. No one was talking about any of this when I was at school.

We all know abstinence only education doesn’t work for teens. When looking for another solution, I think educators should give Dan’s approach a try.
