The man dressed up as Mario in this video is Rémi Gaillard- France’s most popular prankster. Although he’s done previous pranks in the past, this latest is making waves on the web because of it’s “geeky” appeal. Mario Kart is nearly a requirement for anyone who considers themselves a Nintendo fan.
While bananas may trip up your rivals in Mario Kart, the act of throwing bananas at cars is hilarious in real life when nothing happens. Mind you, go carts aren’t street legal so it’s obvious that the police would eventually get involved. The scene at the end where he “escapes” the police is, of course, purely for comedic purposes.
Remi is quite well known in the French media for being their Sasha Baron Cohen, so he probably got off with a slap on the wrist.
