Grand Theft Auto Mario Mash Up | Robot Chicken Video Spoof

51 sec read

Take one of the most iconic video game characters ever and place him along with his brother in to the setting of another game, and watch the results.

Yes, Robot Chicken, the animated comedy show, decided to see what would happen if Mario and Luigi took a wrong turn and ended up in Vice City from Grand Theft Auto.

The animation style using toys, works extremely well and the voices are top notch too. This video had me laughing from the minute Mario’s kart entered the garage to get pimped into a gangster’s car.

Then Luigi moves on to killing the turtle being taken for a walk, ermm yeah, we’ll ignore the fact that it’s rare to see turtles being walked and just laugh along.

In Grand Theft Auto style, this leads to the criminal rating going from zero to one and the police on our heroes tails. Princess Peach is replaced by a prostitute and Mario decides to eat some mushrooms.

Unfortunately these are of the magic variety, sold to him by a dealer. I always thought the mushrooms in Nintendo’s games were slightly dodgy, but I never expected to see the effect they’d have on Mario.

Unfortunately this game mash up leads to Mario and Luigi being killed in a classic gangster shoot out with the police. It was good while it lasted but it seems even Mario can’t survive in the world of Grand Theft Auto.
