First world problems are problems that would only be considered as such in our industrialized, comfortable towns and cities. In other words, as someone in a developing country what problems they’re having and the answers will be slightly different. And scarier.
‘First world problems’ is a meme on social networking sites whereby people post a status update detailing their latest gripe that really isn’t sufficient enough to be labeled a problem.
It’s an interesting meme because it requires a little self-awareness on the part of the poster. You’re moaning about something, but you know deep down that you really shouldn’t be.
This video shows the Top 100 first world problems, as chosen by some guy. It’s not a definitive list, but it’s a great one. My favorite is ‘You don’t own a Mac,’ because, well, I don’t.
