A tragic murder mystery got an unexpected comedic twist when a hamster was labeled a suspect by WFSB TV News.

The news intended to show us an image of Rodney Stanger, a person of interest in the 2000 disappearance of teenager Molly Bish. Instead they showed us an adorable hamster.

While the area’s television viewers undoubtedly got a chuckle from the incident, the poor newsreader seemed a little red faced!

“The possible suspect Rodney Stanger seen here … well this is not Rodney Stanger obviously,” the flustered anchor said.

Well I’d hope not! I’d hate to think this chubby cheeked rodent has a more sinister side!
