When 300 was released back in 2006, it set a new standard for green screen usage in movies. Now NBC wants to recreate that success with an online sci-fi series starring the one and only Rosario Dawson.

Green Screen Usage

Using sound-stages instead of regular sets not only saves money, but also makes for a unique look. By using as many as 30 layers per scene (some for background effects, some for the actual actors), the “location” can be changed instantly.

“Otherwise we just look like a bunch of fools,” jokes co-star Justin Hartley. Technology also plays and important role the actual storyline. Throughout the episodes, Dawson uses what looks like a super-iPhone to tell her side of the story.
