Gerry Ryan, one of Ireland’s best-known and most-loved broadcasters, has been found dead in his Dublin apartment after failing to show up for his morning radio show on RTE2.
Ryan and his breakfast show were something of an institution in Ireland, and Ryan also made regular appearances on television.
This video shows Ryan at his controversial (and funniest) best. After being told by Gordon Ramsay that he’s a bit of a pussy, he gives it to the chef with both barrels. And Ramsay looked genuinely shocked.
Tributes to Gerry Ryan have flooded in, led by Irish Prime Minister Brian Cowen. British broadcaster Chris Evans regarded Ryan as the man who saved his career, and also paid tribute to the man.
The cause of death has not been disclosed, but no foul play is suspected.
