Here we have yet another Australian web series. Only this time the intended audience includes those who enjoy shows like Ugly Betty and movies like Bridget Jones.

GirlFriday centers around a twenty-something office working female (played by Karla Burt) who finds a cell phone on a train and is convinced that the owner is the love of her life. GirlFriday was made to be viewed via iPod or cell phone; especially for those who have Telstra’s mobile TV service.

Even after the end of each 3-minute episode, viewers can still “communicate” with GirlFriday by reading her often-updated diary entries and even sending her a personal text message:

“Even if they’re sending GirlFriday a drunken text at 3am, they will get a response. Our content management system is based on a number of variables and will trigger a personalized response to information that particular user gave us when they signed up to receive the service,” says the series producer.

Here’s the official series trailer. You may notice that the production quality is superb for an online series, this is because each season has been funded by the Australian Film Commission thus far. Because the show is currently on season 2, those seeking season 1 episodes will have to register.
