This is an audition tape that Stanley Kubrick (director of The Shining) received in the 80’s. I have no idea how this embarrassing footage got out, but I’m glad this crazy and big-headed actor never got into a film.

On second thought, he looks a little like Tom Cruise.

Brian Atene, wherever you are, I hope you’re not this cocky now. “When I was 12 years old I won a Spaniel puppy for 50 cents and my favorite color is green!” I’m sure Kubrick cracked up by then, or at least at the 1:46 when the word “crutches” is mutilated.

As for the “audition” itself (if you can call it that), the scene he reenacts from The Outsiders couldn’t be further from the definition of acting. At the end of the clip when the scene from the real movie is shown, we realize that Brian is way off.

Juilliard must be ashamed.
