H&M Monkey Ad Controversy Video | Clothes Retailer Accused Of Racism

23 sec read

Clothes retailer H&M has been accused of racism after choosing a black child to model a hoodie with the words “Coolest Monkey In The Jungle” on it.

This video shows how the advert caused controversy, with two experts arguing about whether H&M should be ashamed of itself.

Once again I blame Twitter. The “monkey” referred to on the hoodie has nothing to do with race, and everything to do with children of all colors being cheeky little monkeys.

H&M’s failure here is to have not foreseen that someone would take offence. Because someone, somewhere will take offence at absolutely everything these days.
