Great white’s are known as the sea’s most formidable creatures. At least that’s what they told me when I went to Sea World. But for a certain pack of killer whales off the coast of Australia, this isn’t the case.

This “gang” of whales have figured out a way to kill great whites and stingrays with ease.

I grew up watching movies like Free Willy where killer whales were regarded as cute and harmless as dolphins. As this National Geographic video explains, that is no longer true with the discovery of ‘tonic immobility.’

Apparently when sharks and rays are held upside down they become helpless in the water- sort of like cockroaches. Who knew?
