Australians have a reputation for being pretty reckless around the country’s numerous animal nasties. As an Aussie I try to convince folks that this stereotype is a little unfair … and then I come across a video like this.

Here we see a hapless Aussie attempting to catch a huntsman spider. At least he has the good sense to rethink his choice of container before capturing the beast, but that’s about the only clever thing about this clip.

It’s a bit sad, and disturbing, when the small child operating the camera has more smarts than the man playing with the spider.
