YouTube star PewDiePie, real name Felix Kjellberg, has landed himself in a little hot water over some videos he recently uploaded to his channel.
In these videos, he tested the boundaries of Fiverr, which lets people offer services for $5. Unfortunately for PewDiePie, publications have twisted his intentions to misrepresent him as a racist.
PewDiePie was shining a light on the lengths some people will go to earn $5. He accomplished this by asking people to hold up anti-semitic signs and say positive things about Hitler.
That doesn’t mean he believes and condones those things, which is how some quarters of the press have spun this story. It’s led to Disney and YouTube both distancing themselves from PewDiePie.
Love him or hate him, PewDiePie is clearly not racist.
