How many people on active duty are going to see this news report and wonder, “Why didn’t I think of that?”

I’m with the reporter – I have mixed feelings about the situation. I am sure there are plenty of soldiers out there who ‘couldn’t fit military service into their lives’ but they were forced to make it work anyway.

I have sympathy for this woman, I really do, but I can’t help but wonder just how much influence dragging the media into the situation had. Would they have said, “You just have to make it work” otherwise?

Would her husband had to have found another job, like I’m sure many families had to make similar adjustments?
