Interesting Mathematical Music Video | Fibonacci Sequence in Tool’s ‘Lateralus’

23 sec read

For a song that is based off a mathematical sequence, it’s quite musically hypnotic even though a bit lyrically strange.

By definition, The Fibonacci Sequence is “In mathematics, the Fibonacci numbers are a sequence of numbers named after Leonardo of Pisa, known as Fibonacci.” – Wikipedia

“The first number of the sequence is 0, the second number is 1, and each subsequent number is equal to the sum of the previous two numbers of the sequence itself, yielding the sequence 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, etc.”

Beyond being just a sequence of numbers, the Fibonacci Sequence is special because it can be used geometrically to create a spiral.

So it doesn’t just make interesting music…
