Irish Soda Bread Recipe Video | A Staple Part Of Any Proper St. Patrick’s Day Meal

St. Patrick’s Day is on March 17th, which means many people are celebrating it this weekend. I expect I’ll go and have a pint of Guinness at my local pub on Tuesday. And to line my stomach first, I may eat some homemade Irish soda bread.

This video shows a simple recipe for making Irish soda bread. Not only are the ingredients easy to come by, the method looks simple enough to ensure anyone can bake some bread in time for the celebrations.

There are many forms of soda bread, from the Northern Irish farl to the wholemeal wheaten bread. They date from 1840 when bicarbonate of soda was introduced to Ireland, and it’s been a staple part of the Irish diet ever since.

Whether you have any Irish relatives, ancestors, or even friends, or not, enjoy St. Patrick’s Day. Hell, I’m English and I celebrate it. But then, that’s just because it’s an excuse to enjoy a pint or two of the black stuff.
