There are rumors — strong and numerous though they are, they’re still rumors for the time being — that J.J. Abrams has signed on to direct the new Star Wars movie. Wow, let’s hope it’s true, because he would be my first choice.

Not everybody is happy with the news. Many were hoping Chris Nolan would step up to direct, but that was always unlikely. Abrams knows what he’s doing and will likely set the new Star Wars off on the right course.
My one concern, and it’s admittedly a small one, is Abrams’ over-reliance on lens flare. It got in the way a little in the first Star Trek reboot, and I hope it’s banned from the new Star Wars.
