An on-stage discussion at the Tribeca Film Institute’s 20th anniversary screening of the movie Wag the Dog went a little awry when John Oliver started to grill Dustin Hoffman over sexual harassment allegations.
Oliver, who was acting as moderator, decided this would be a good time to quiz Hoffman on the allegations made decades after the incident is alleged to have taken place.
Unsurprisingly, Hoffman didn’t really appreciate this line of questioning at what was meant to be a lighthearted panel discussion about Wag the Dog.
There is a time and a place for these kinds of discussion, ideally in a courtroom where the accused and their accuser can both have their say.
