We’re at the pointy end of Australian Idol. With the auditions and semis out of the way, we can focus on the talent with the finals. The contestants are stepping up to the challenge, but few did it as convincingly as Kim Cooper.

This is an example of a girl who listens to the advice she’s given, and applies it. There’s no getting around this girl’s good looks. With immaculately coiffed blonde hair and sparkling blue eyes, she could give Barbie a run for her money.

While those attributes are enough to win over the male voters, she was never going to attract the female vote singing vapid pop songs. So this week she grunged it up with a little Foo Fighters.

Her stripped back performance brought out the song’s emotional intensity, and proved to everyone there’s a lot more to Kim than meets the eye.
