After the Monaco Grand Prix last weekend the BBC interviewed Lewis Hamilton. And he actually used the race card. Not a good move, Lewis, not a good move.

For the “Maybe it’s because I’m black” comment skip to 1:10 in the video. Otherwise you can watch the whole thing and hear all of Hamilton’s complaints over how he feels he’s being unfairly treated.

He is joking, that much is patently obvious. He even references Ali G, one of Sacha Baron Cohen’s (Borat, Bruno) earliest creations. Ali G actually used to say, “Is it cos I is black,” but still.

Anyone who thinks Hamilton was actually accusing the F1 stewards of racism needs their head examining. Maybe Hamilton shouldn’t have used the race card even jokingly, but let’s not blow it out of proportion, eh?
