Smokey, a 12-week-old Chihuahua pup, may just be the luckiest dog in the world.

His story doesn’t start so positively. After a freak accident, the tiny pet ended up with a barbecue fork lodged in his brain. Understandably terrified, he ran into the woods and could not be found for two days.

But this is one tough pup. Once he returned, he was promptly taken to his local vet. He pulled through the surgery like a trooper, and is currently living fork-less.

A cynic might say that Chihuahuas don’t have enough brain to damage, but I’m thrilled that this plucky pup is likely to make a full recovery.
