Today is Pancake Day, Fat Tuesday, or Mardi Gras, depending on where you are in the world, and what your cultural traditions are. Here in the UK, we favor the hot, thin pancake, and this video shows how to make the perfect English style pancake.

To celebrate Shrove Tuesday, chef Adam Bennet takes us through all the necessary steps to make the perfect pancake, from the ingredients, through the preparation, to the actual cooking.

While finding this video, I realized quite how many different ways there are to make pancakes, and how many different varieties there are. This style, for instance, will be totally alien to Americans and Europeans, who do it very differently.

I’m lucky to have a girlfriend who is very good at cooking. Her method for making pancakes differs from this, but they are absolutely delicious. And there’s no need for fancy toppings, just lemon and sugar.
