Last Christmas, some radio stations in the US banned Baby, It’s Cold Outside. This came after complaints from listeners due to the nature of the song.
The accusation is that Baby, It’s Cold Outside suggests inappropriate pressuring of a woman to stay the night. Which, in light of #MeToo, doesn’t look great.
This has led John Legend and Kelly Clarkson to record a new version of Baby, It’s Cold Outside. With lyrics designed to better reflect modern attitudes.
I personally don’t think old art should be messed with. And Baby, It’s Cold Outside is no exception. Especially when modern rap songs are highly misogynistic.
