This is the new TV commercial for the iPad 2. With it Apple is getting a little philosophical with us, suggesting that the iPad represents the pinnacle of human interaction with technology.
The title of the ad, ‘We Believe’, gives away what Apple is trying to do here. Forget selling an actual product, Steve Jobs and co. are now selling a dream, a vision, a brand, a lifestyle. And why not? It’s been working for a while now.
I do like the iPad as a product, and the iPad 2 has built on the popularity of the original by improving on it in every single way. Sure, it wasn’t a huge leap forward, but it’s enough of one.
If only the iPad and the iPad 2 wasn’t so expensive for what is essentially a lifestyle device. If I could replace my laptop with it then it would be cheap, but as it would have to be an (optional) extra, it’s a little out of my price range. Unfortunately.
