A new Thundercats cartoon is coming to Cartoon Network at the end of the month, but a 9-minute trailer of sorts (showing a random selection of scenes) has leaked onto the Web. And pretty good it is too.

There was speculation that the new Thundercats was going to be some kind of big-budget CGI effort, and a video showing as much leaked online last year. But a more traditional style was chosen in the end.

I’m really glad, actually, because as impressive as it all looks when animated on computers it lacks that certain something that only a human hand and a human eye can produce.

All the old characters are back but have been updated for a new, younger audience. Everything else is both recognizable yet significantly different as well, meaning this could be a hit amongst both fans of the original and newcomers alike.
