If you’re not already acquainted meet Nick Mitchell, the most flamboyant contestant ever to grace the American Idol stage. As his loud-shirt and head-band wearing alter ego Norman Gentle, Nick is turning this year’s competition on his head.

Nick, or Norman, is banking on his over-the-top performance of “And I’m Telling You” from Dreamgirls to see him through to the finals. It was such a brilliantly desperate take on a song we’ve heard so many times.

Surely putting his stamp on such a tired number is the mark of a true artist! America’s going to love or loathe him, but I’m crossing my fingers that most fall into the former camp!
