The New York City Marathon was held today, and although this video is from 2008, it still gives a good idea of what it is to be a participant.

It’s one of my ambitions in life to run a marathon. I don’t mind if it’s the London Marathon, the New York Marathon, or whatever, but the idea of testing myself over 26.2 miles is very appealing. Even though it’ll probably kill me.

Both the London Marathon and the New York City Marathon offer a chance to see great cities from unusual viewpoints. With the New York Marathon passing through all five boroughs, it’s a great way to see New York.

However, I’d probably be too concerned with my labored breathing and the pain in my legs to actually notice any of the landmarks passing by. Sad but true.
