The Hobbit is finally coming to the big screen, with Peter Jackson having turned J.R.R. Tolkien’s classic tome into an epic movie trilogy. Of which, An Unexpected Journey is the first.
This video shows the official HD trailer for the first installment, which is due to be released on December 14, 2012.
After An Unexpected Journey will come The Desolation Of Smaug (on Dec. 13, 2014) and There And Back Again (July 18, 2014) will wrap the series up.
I’m not sure I agree with the decision to turn this one book into a trilogy, albeit with stories from other books thrown in to flesh it out. Still, I’m sure Peter Jackson knows what he’s doing, and it will sit comfortably alongside The Lord Of The Rings.
