Phyllis Diller has sadly passed away at the ripe old age of 95. She will be remembered as a comedian, actress, and pioneer for female performers making waves on television.

I’ll be honest, I’d never heard of Diller before today. Like so many comics her humor clearly didn’t travel. So while she was big in America she didn’t really make strides elsewhere.

Still, in the U.S. Diller was huge for many years, coming to prominence in the 1950s, first on radio and then on television. And her fame reached its peak in the 1960s, which is the period this performance is from.

R.I.P. Phyllis Diller – 1917-2012.
